Mastitis Diagram

Mastitis is inflammation of the udder. It is usually caused by bacterial infection, but may also be caused by yeast or mycoplasma.

Infection causes white blood cells and other immunity substances to be attracted to the site of infection. This process is called inflammation. The white blood cells appear in the milk. We call these somatic cells.
